Mont Blanc

A rigorous 12-day trek through the Alps of France, Italy, & Switzerland

Detailed Itinerary (subject to change)

A rigorous 12 Day Backpacking and Hiking experience through the Alps of France, Italy and Switzerland!  3 Countries, enough bread and cheese to keep you moving and 110 miles of the most incredible scenery, that you will not soon forget.

Dates: June 29- July 9th

Days 1 & 2:

Arrive in the small french village of Chamoix

We start our journey, in a small alpine village called Chamonix in the French Alps where we’ll relax and acclimate for a couple days before our trek begins. Our lodging will be perched on the side of a cliff overlooking Mer de Glace glacier, in a beautifully restored chalet accessible only by train.  There we’ll be pampered with delicious French wine, fresh locally sourced cheeses, and picturesque scenery.

Day 3:

Start the trek

We will start our trek in a little town west of Chamonix called Les Houches.  Today’s hike will be around 5 1/2 – 6 hours.  Descending us into the quaint alpine village of Les Contamines France
Day 4:

Climb over Col de Bonhomme

We start our day off after a delicious breakfast of breads, cheeses, meats, and preserves directly into a rigorous climb over Col de Bonhomme, Col de la Croix, and Col de Fours.  This will be one of our hardest and longest days of hiking.  Roughly 10/11 hours.  But so rewarding as we make our way to our refuge where we cheer and greet our fellow travelers.
Days 5 & 6:

Trek into Italy

We leave after sunrise and trek over Col de Seigne and into Italy!  My personal favorite part of the hike!  We arrive in a stunning little town in the Italian alps right out a story book where we’ll relax for two nights at a boutique hotel getting massaged, drinking wine, and regaining our strength. 7 hrs
Day 7:

A hike, glacier, and espresso

We hike through one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the Alps to an exceptional refuge that faces a magnificent glacier right out of a postcard with amazing Italian espresso.  We will stay dormitory style once again at this incredible Italian refuge.  4 1/2 hrs
Day 8:

Ascend into Switzerland

A high impact morning ascent where we leave Italy behind and cross into Switzerland to the small Swiss town of La Fouly for another great night of food, and relaxation after a long day’s journey.  6hrs
Day 9:

Hike up to a Swiss lake

We hike up to a beautiful Swiss lake, Champex and the lodge for that evening which overlooks the valley we just left.  A perfect place to reflect on our journey and take in a truly breathtaking sight.  4 1/2 hrs
Day 10:

Hike over Mt Bovine

Our hike today is over Mt Bovine and down to a quaint little alpine village on the other side called Trient where we will sip swiss hot chocolate and whiskey surrounded by white capped mountains.  It doesn’t get better than this.   5hrs

Day 11:

Trek up Col de Balme

We hike from Trient and climb up Col de Balme to one of the most impressive views you’ll see on the trip (everything else is a close second).  Now back into French territory, we’ll drop our bags at Tre Le Champ for a side trip to the gorgeous Lac Blanc.  5 1/2 hrs
Day 12:

Last day of the hike

We finish our hike, back where we started in the beautiful town of Chamonix where we will stay one more night to celebrate, exchange photos and reflect on the accomplishment we’ve just completed.  More wine, cheese and kick off those stinky boots, you deserve it.

Day 13:
Time to go back home!
